The Materials Management Lead is key within the value stream and is accountable for ensuring alignment between customer demands and the direct and indirect resources. The person will oversee the company’s needs for inventory by managing and assessing supply needs and coordinating delivery schedules. Their duties will include training warehouse staff and tracking the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain for Kenya and Ethiopia offices.

Your Tasks

  • Manage KEA and KET data integrity and accuracy by maintaining SAP master data relating to material info records, lead times, prices, lot sizes, extension of materials to KEA plant, updating HS Codes and stock settings, and ensuring consumption of old material before follow-up materials, etc
  • Analyze MRP settings, identify materials requirements, monitor, and optimize inventory for the procurement, cost savings, and disposal processes.
  • Document all processes and procedures relating to Material Management, warehousing, and export from KEA and KET warehouses
  • Support MEA strategies in Materials Management and warehousing stock levels, movements, valuation and MRP setting analysis.
  • Liaise with all relevant stakeholders regarding Strategic Material Management initiatives for optimized stock holding.
  • Obsolete stock management – monitoring and minimizing customer returns, order duplication, SO cancellations, other errors and supporting the selling strategy to reduce obsolete and non-moving stock.
  • Monitor fulfilment of open sales orders, shutdowns, analysis of customer SLA’s, stocking requirements and forecasting of spare parts and consumables ensuring optimization and availability.
  • Coordinate quarterly inventory counts and ensuring variances, SAP adjustments, and Corrective Action Plans are closed in a timely manner
  • Monitor daily spare part requisitions and demand changes in order to make necessary order adjustments as well as notify relevant stakeholders always ensuring limited dead-stock value
  • Manage warehouse staff and activities measuring and improving Krones Warehouse KPI performance.
  • Ensure compliance to Krones GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) for warehousing standards in processes and procedures of material handling, storage, material dispatch, disposal, 5S, and in accordance with relevant country legislation where Krones East Africa operates.
  • Drive efficiencies in the functions of both warehouses through facilitating warehouse staff trainings, maximizing layout, control of stock item binning, and stock management in the warehouses.
  • Drive continuing programs of exploration for new material management initiatives, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery

Your Profile

•    Good insight into sales business, order processes, warehousing, and distribution
•    Strong materials management skills with attention to detail
•    Structured and methodical in analyzing and problem solving for decision making
•    Knowledge of import/export processes in East Africa
•    5 years’ experience in the relevant field
